On Tuesday, May 4, the Eastham Library Peecie Beecie (Parent-Child Book Club) met to discuss the Newberry Honor Book "Savvy" by Ingrid Law. A lively discussion arose concerning the interesting characters (and their very interesting character quirks), the plot, similarities to "The Wizard of Oz", the use (or over-use, as some members thought) of literary devices, etc.
As always, I was amazed at our young members - their profound thoughts, amazing retention of details, and articulate expression of opinions are marvelous. For our next meeting we will read Anthony Horowitz's "The Switch", and I look forward to that discussion. We will then take a hiatus for the summer months, but I am 100% sure that all our members will keep on reading!

The Junior Library Club recently had a book-buying field trip to the Brewster Book Store. Ten of us had the liberty of choosing a couple of books each to purchase for the children's collection. We had fun browsing the shelves and talking about what we came across - thank you, Brewster Book Store, for your graciousness and generosity. Then we had pizza!!! Thanks to the Friends of the Eastham Library for sponsoring the JLC.
